Yesterday Matt Cutts at Google published a video that reveals an amusing new feature of Google's RSS reader, Google Reader.

When in your Google Reader account simply enter the following keyboard keystroke sequence and the new mode becomes active:

• Up Arrow
• Up Arrow
• Down Arrow
• Down Arrow
• Left Arrow
• Right Arrow
• Left Arrow
• Right Arrow
• B
• A

While the feature is more amusing than useful it does reveal the potentially useful viral marketing tactic of leveraging social media to build product awareness.

Here's their approach

1. Create Some "Secret", useful, or cool gadget or tool
2. Have popular staff member create video
3. Upload video to YouTube channel that is highly viewed by the tech community
4. Tech community picks up video embeds in their blogs (ahem ;-) and Tweets about it on Twitter
5. Twiterati retweets new secret sauce
6. Potentially Google Reader user base increases
